One of the oldest road races in the country takes place again as race 3 Ger Wyley Sports/Skins summer series 2014.

The race starts at Waterford's new Viking Triangle in Waterford city and goes out the Tramore road to finish in Tramore outside Splashworld. The race is chip timed with chip and gun times provided and there are top men and women, and age category prizes. Showers, changing facilities, refreshments, and prize giving will be in the GAA centre in Tramore after.

This is a point to point race so don’t forget to organize a lift back into town or check out the bus eireann bus time table here http://www.buseireann.ie/pdf/1371808392-360.pdf

WIT 5K race results

ruadhri and WAC
Another successful annual WIT AC 5K supporting athletics in Waterford in association with Waterford AC took place on Friday April 4th with Sandis Bralitis of WWAC winning the mens race in 15 mins 31 sec from our own Trevor Power just 2 seconds back and Marie McCarthy leading home the ladies in 17mins 53 sec with our own Slyvia Malone coming home in second place.

Thanks to WIT for providing the facilities for the race and great to see WIT president Ruadhri Neavyn in attendance to act as offical race starter and who took the time to congratulate Andy Connick and all his helpers from WIT AC (pictured below) on such a great display of participation. Next week here in Waterford sees these WIT student athletes represent Waterford in the national T&F universites championships at the RSC on Friday and Saturday so why not pop along to watch top class athletes on your doorstep.  Waterford AC juvenile members will be assisting with medal presentations and call room duties as well as Start and Finish assistance so a great opportunity for our juvenile members to see first hand what serious athletics is all about. No admission fee to RSC and action is between 2 and 7pm on Friday and 10 and 4pm on Saturday.
happy helpers

WAC committe members of Club Chairman Kieran Leahy, Club Secretary Kieran O'Mahoney and Club Captain Diane Behan were all on hand on the evening to help out on behalf of WAC and Ruadhri Neavyn was impressed to see such great support for the work both WAC and WIT AC are doing for the development of athletics in Waterford.

Thanks as always to Club and County PRO Fintan Walsh on his great job of MC in getting the information to us all on the night of what we needed to do get get parked, checked in and to the start in good time.
