Waterford Tramore 7.5 Mile Road Race

Waterford Tramore Launch

May 2nd 7pm sees the 46th running of one of Ireland's longest running road races now. The race starts at Waterford’s Viking Triangle in Waterford city and goes out the Tramore road to finish in Tramore outside Splashworld, 7.5 miles. The race is chip timed with chip and gun times provided and there are top men and women, and age category prizes. Showers, changing facilities, refreshments, and prize giving will be in the GAA centre in Tramore after.

Munster uneven ages Munster Cross Country Championships

More cross country today at the Munster uneven age championships and great to see some medals home on the bus again!

From the first race of the day at U9 through to U19 and also senior men we had members taking part and in the u9 boys race Nathan Mackey ran a great race to win an individual medal in coming 4th place. In the girls U15 Emma Caulfield  and Linsey McGuire both made it onto the county team that won bronze abd qualify through to the nationals in Santry.  Also, qualifyng as part of county teams were Hugo Blair in the boys U15, Jamie McCarthy, Conor Quuinn and David McGlynn in the U17 and Barry Keane ran a great race to win individual 5th in the u19.

Munster even ages Munster Cross Country Championships

Another great day of cross country for WAC today in the even age championsgips in Tipperary.

Our U14 girls of Linsey McGuire, Emer McGlynn, Emma Caulfield and Anna Duffin won team gold and also won bronze as part of the county team.
Sean Hayes had an excellent run and secured a bronze medal on the county team in the boys u12.

Later in the day Jamie McCarthy and David McGlynn made the county team that won bronze in the u16 boys.  In the U18 boys Barry Keane and Conor Quinn were on the county team that won gold and with Barry finishing in the top 10 individual will represent the province as well as the county in the follow on all Ireland cross country championships. Great to get so many WAC qualifiers through to the nationals and well done to all who took part and gained more valuable experience at this stage in their young careers....and of course the parents and coaches encouraging them all the way.
